Notes
- Please use a headset or conference speaker for the connection test and for participating in the event to avoid annoying feedback or echoes!
- Please ensure you have an optimal internet connection (LAN or optimal Wi-Fi connection). The conditions for your connection test should correspond to the conditions for your participation in the inline event.
- Please use one of the common browsers and the most recent version possible (we recommend a Chronium-based browser such as Google Chrome or MS Edge
Echo test
The BigBlueButton echo test is deactivated the first time you dial into a conference. If you still want to call it up, first dial in via microphone. Then click on the arrow "Change audio device" on the microphone button. Select "Leave Audio" and then again the headphone button "Join audio". Now the echo test appears when dialing in with microphone.
Privacy Policy
When using BigBlueButton, the following data is stored:
- Connection data (e.g., IP address, browser type, date and time of access
- Access data (if applicable): username, password in encrypted form Content data (e.g., uploaded files, chat contributions, surveys).
- Connection data is temporarily stored for the duration of the session. This is necessary to enable delivery of BigBlueButton (BBB) to the users computer.
The legal basis for the temporary storage of data is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Stored data is neither shared nor evaluated. It is deleted as soon as it is no longer required.
The recording function of our video conferencing tool is deactivated. Recording video or audio conferences is not permitted.
Error messages
If you receive error messages when activating audio and video connections, check your network settings: A firewall may be blocking the transmission. If you are trying to participate in a BigBlueButton meeting using your work device, check whether you can access the internet and thus BBB from outside your company network (e.g., without a VPN).
If this is not possible, your IT department may need to open some ports for outgoing connections so that you can use BigBlueButton on your work device to participate in our online event.
In this case, please provide the following information to your IT department:
BBB is operated as a cluster in conjunction with a TURN/STUN service. The BBB system runs on the IP addresses 159.69.128.109, 159.69.128.110 and 159.69.128.111 and the Turn server has the IP address 159.69.128.112.
The following ports are used for communication:
TCP
- 80 (HTTP, redirected to HTTPS)
- 443 (HTTPS)
- 3478 (TURN requests, unencrypted)
- 5349 (TURN requests, TLS encrypted)
UDP
- 3478 (TURN requests, unencrypted)
- 5349 (TURN requests, DTLS encrypted)
- 16384-32768 (WebRTC-based audio and video connections)
- 32769-65535 (WebRTC-based audio and video connections, TURN to connect to BigBlueButton server)
